Contributor has a set of user-definable options that are preset to the most commonly used settings and may need to be set to specific values before using the product. The Options screen displays the configurable options. Options disabled by the system administrator at installation time are greyed out.

Storage
- The file path displayed in this field is the location for the local cache. To change the location, click Browse and browse to your preferred file storage location. This location should be set before any data has been downloaded from SharePoint.
General
- Prompt for properties when adding documents: check this option have Contributor prompt for the item-specific metadata when new items are uploaded into or created in SharePoint. This is a global setting that affects all interfaces. The default folder metadata feature can be used to turn off the prompting for a specific folder.
- Use current Windows appearance: check this option to have Contributor adopt the appearance and color scheme (theme) of the current Windows operating system. This enables Contributor to better match the overall Windows appearance. However, the Office 2007 ribbon system has its own color system separate from the Windows operating system.
- Synchronize on startup: check this option to synchronize Contributor when the application is first launched
- Synchronize when list is viewed: check this option to synchronize Contributor when a particular list is viewed
- Synchronize when list is modified: check this option to synchronize if an item is modified in a list or library
- Background synchronization interval: choose the time interval when the synchronization occurs
- Automatically download lists to resolve Site Column values: check this option to have Contributor automatically synchronize a list that is referenced in a metadata lookup field. This means the list is available in a drop-down menu in the metadata editor. If the library is cached, then the list is also available from the cache and items can be viewed, modified, or created.
